The dream…
Some of the best innovations come when you least expect them. Back in 1997 Paul Metzen received a request from a prominent Sydney based Architectural firm. He was approached to source manufacturers of a louvre system that would meet their special needs.
Nothing that met their requirement ever existed in Australia or the globe!
They wanted the louvres to be adjustable and attractive. Of course functionality was as important to them as beauty. And they wanted the louvre to operate smoothly and easily. Finally the system they were after had to be durable.
Paul had become excited by the challenge, and moreso the concept of a louvre that did “all of the above”. It was at this time that he was personally determined in his heart and mind to make this louvre system become a reality.
The Reality…
The new Metzen Mi55 Louvre System is arguably the worlds most elegant louvre. The new fully patented louvre system is a world first, with all operating components including the motor, concealed within the frame. There are no external linkages or bulky attachments to detract from the system’s appearance or clutter its beautiful clean lines.
The Mi55 system is elegant, yet strong – able to withstand high wind loads and is resistant to a semi-marine environment.
For easy transport and installation, the system ships damage free in a ‘flat pack’ and is able to be assembled at its final destination, for example on the upper floors of high rise buildings, eliminating expensive cranage.
